CD install instructions:
Make sure before clicking "INSTALL NOW" you have inserted your CD (or mounted your CD image) so Porting Kit recognizes the CD and can start the installation automatically. You will be prompted to install the game like if you were in Windows.
This WSI file will create a Wrapper and install the CD/DVD version of Age of Empires into that Wrapper. So make sure the Game DVD is in the drive before starting the installation. Click “Download” to download and create the Wrapper. When it asks for the setup file, navigate to the game CD and select the setup file. Then run through the installation. For questions and help check the Help/FAQ tab in the Porting Kit.
It will also Create a shortcut to the Rise of Rome Expansion if you want to play the “gold edition”. If you need to install the expansion manually after installing Age of Empires, go to the local library tab —> right click the game —> Launch Wineskin —> install Software—> navigate to the Expansion DVD/CD and run the setup and install the game into the wrapper. You can close the installer afterwards because the shortcut in the Porting Kit is already created :)

Since then, seven titles and three spin-offs have been released. The titles are historical real-time strategy games, and their gameplay revolves around two main game modes: Single player and campaign. They competed with another popular strategy series, Civilization, and are set amidst historical events.
Age of Empires focused on events in Europe, Africa and Asia, spanning from the Stone Age to the Iron Age; the expansion game explored the formation and expansion of the Roman Empire.
